Sick of socks and underwhelmed by underwear

With Father’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start giving this year’s gift some serious thought.

And this time around, you can forget the socks.

A new survey has revealed that a whopping 91% of dads are tired of receiving boring and unthoughtful Father’s Day gifts.

The poll, conducted by luxury male grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge, shows that 72% of those have had enough of unwrapping socks and pants on their special day, with 84% admitting that they wished their offspring would pay more attention to their needs – as well as their hobbies, likes and dislikes.

The survey involved 1,023 fathers aged between 20 and 70, 9% of whom did not believe in celebrating the occasion due to the commercial overtures.

Of the remaining 91%, almost all agreed that their children could be more original when it came to gift giving.

With men now looking after themselves better than ever, an unsurprising 41% said that they would be happy to receive new grooming products, with an adventurous 23% favouring an experience-based gift such as paintballing or rally driving.

21% admitted that a hobby-related gift would be the most likely to put a smile on their face, with the remaining 15% saying they would be more than satisfied with being taken out for a celebratory lunch.

Men can be notoriously difficult to buy for, so in order to help gratify even the most difficult of dads, The Bluebeards Revenge has put together the Perfect Dad Kit just in time for the special day, where fathers will be surprised with a range of grooming products to see them through the coming months. The set will include a Shaving Solution, Cooling Moisturiser, comb, anti-perspirant deodorant, eau de toilette and soap.

Nick Gibbens, spokesperson for the Bluebeards Revenge, said:

“Although we have seen an upward trend in the amount of money men are spending on keeping themselves well-groomed, there are still a large number of them out there – particularly fathers – who won’t go out and buy these sorts of products for themselves, mainly because they deem it more important to put the money towards other things, such as their offspring.

“ Nonetheless, they are delighted to receive such gifts, and allowing someone to feel spoilt by giving them something they won’t – or can’t – splash out on for themselves is the epitome of good gift-giving.”
